About us

We are a Silesian-based foundation

our main aim is to establish collaborative platforms of creative environments and to popularise the culture.

Sound is our field of interest – the scientific approach to it, and its use in music, visual arts or public spaces. The organising of workshop meetings related to music and new media arts, which lie at the intersection of the worlds of sound and technology, present a completely new perspective on experiencing music, and arouse curiosity and a desire to search for unobvious solutions.

Our facilities are located on the campus of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, until now giving artists creative possibilities. Our set-up consists of a pioneering multi-channel sound emission system in a 3D domain, a simulation system for creating acoustic surroundings, live, and during concerts and recording sessions as well as a wide range of musical and experimental instruments (recording studio, music production, and the original “Tonarium” instrument). An additional asset is the LORI ASP (The Laboratory of Moving Images and Interaction at the Academy of Fine Arts Katowice) technology equipment.

Together with Katowice Sound Office curators Piotr Ceglarek and Jan Dybala, we explore spatial sound and the possibilities of modular synthesizers.

The function of the foundation is a follow-up to the Azymut recording and music production studio which has been in operation since 2014, and has been given a slightly different, expanded character. Together with the curators of the Katowice Sound Department, Piotr Ceglark and Jan Dybala, we have been exploring spatial sound and the possibilities of modular synthesisers, resulting in an Innovation Programme grant from the European Union.

Our audio facilities related to the experimental film studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice forms a unique creative space. Work in such an innovative environment enables the obtaining of unique competencies on a global scale. The scale of the facility and its openness – directly emerges from the traditions of the greatest, historical and modern experimental electronic music facilities – SEPR in Poland, GRM and IRCAM in France, and the German WDR, as well as others, which allowed the realisation of versatile sound forms offering the newest possible technologies.
