SPEKTRUM – A/V performance

Spektrum is the debut audiovisual project by the duo biøs (Jakub Mokrzysiak) and Jakub Stelmach, based on a dialogue between light, sound, and space. The central element of the project is a custom-designed LED lamp—a suspended, high-tech structure that combines a system of LEDs, projection, and liquid crystal film capable of changing its transparency in a fraction of a second. The light object functions as a hybrid of installation, instrument, and screen, serving as a new-media medium and a key component of the overall experience.

The title Spektrum refers both to a physical phenomenon—the splitting and modulation of light—and to sound spectrum analyzers that make it possible to “see” sound. The project translates this experience into the field of new-media art, creating a shared environment for image and sound.

The premiere at Tonarium – Laboratory of New Media marks the artistic debut of the duo and simultaneously inaugurates a series of experiments with immersive audiovisual environments, in which the audience’s perception is shaped through dynamic relationships between image and sound.
