DANCE PERFORMANCE

TRACES – Dance Performance

TRACES is an interdisciplinary audiovisual performance realized as part of the project “Dance using an immersive network: a performance of sensors, sound, and light.” The event seeks to dissolve the boundaries between performer and audience, shifting the traditional theatrical experience into a realm of total immersion.

The performance explores the relationship between the human body and digital signals. The creators move away from perceiving technology as a cold tool, treating it instead as an active partner that allows for a deep, sensory experience of art. At the core of the spectacle lies a constant negotiation between form and technique, where movement becomes the catalyst for a living, almost biological structure.

Through the use of modern motion sensors, the dancers are transformed into living instruments, shaping the soundscape, lighting, and video projections in real time. Signals from the transmitters influence the ambisonic sound and organic visualizations, engaging the viewer’s senses and inviting them to fully immerse themselves in the shifting narrative of the space.

The project features an interdisciplinary team of artists and technologists: Laura Adel (visuals), Katarzyna Borza (dance), Piotr Ceglarek (lighting design), Jakub Kirklewski (technology), Aleksandra Nowakowska (dance), and Jakub “biøs” Mokrzysiak (technology and composition).

The event takes place in the unique space of Tonarium – an innovative new media laboratory designed for multi-dimensional audiovisual experiences.

The project “Dance using an immersive network: a performance of sensors, sound, and light” was funded by the European Union NextGenerationEU.

Organizers Soundscape Foundation, Tonarium, Mercedes Benz Inter Car Silesia, Katowice City of Gardens – Krystyna Bochenek Cultural Institution.
