The Tonarium
A haptic and conceptual bridge between advanced digital technology and the user. It’s becoming a tool for simultaneous intuitive generation, composing and prototyping of spatial-acoustic sound properties. Thanks to the innovative fusion of analogue and digital technologies, this can be done in real-time by use of ergonomic panels and analogue controllers, i.e. in workshops until now free from the most frequently practised pre-production technique and software implementing material under linear playback.
The 'Tonarium’ includes, among other things, two full-analogue modular synthesisers (including the SERGE system, the most reputable in academic environments), two full-analogue 10-channel matrix mixers (one dedicated to audio signal distribution and the other to control signal management), a number of specially developed panels for integrating with external instruments and extracting additional signals from them, processed directly into digital control messages for the 3D system software.
